Tigo Ghana has announced the launch of Tigo Music in partnership with
Deezer, the international music streaming service. Through pre-paid
data bundles, Tigo customers will from 31 October be able to access more
than 35 million tracks, including African and Ghanaian artists, on
their phones and tablets.
Additionally, Tigo will be sourcing new and local content through its
recently announced venture with the digital music company Africa Music
Rights. The introduction of Tigo Music in Ghana follows the launch in
Latin America in 2012.
Tigo Music is expected to roll out to Chad, DR Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania in the coming months.
Cédric Diedrich, Head of Telecom Business Development at Deezer said:
“We are excited to be extending our partnership with Millicom and look
forward to bringing our service to Tigo Music customers in Africa. The
service will use Deezer’s personalised human recommendations and smart
algorithm to give customers access to our 35 million track strong
library on its mobile platform.”
