Govt. seeks new vendor for digital TV migration

According to the Ministry of Communications, seventeen firms have now shown an interest, including local and international ones.

According to a report by Citi Business News, Ghana’s Ministry of Communications is in the process of selecting a new vendor to facilitate migration from analogue television broadcasting to Digital Terrestrial Television before 20 March – leaving the authority only 8 days to find a new vendor. This follows a ruling by a commercial court in Accra on 09 March that the government can go ahead with the migration.

According to the Ministry of Communications, seventeen firms have now shown an interest, including local and international ones.

Deputy Minister of communication Ato Sarpong stated that the government hopes to appoint a new vendor by 20 March. He said the advertisement says that it wants the roll-out to be executed in twelve months from the date of the award, which is expected to be done at the latest by 01 April, with a deadline of executing the project in nine months.

He stressed that the Ministry of Communication was optimistic that Ghana will by the close of this year fully migrate to the DTT platform.
